Street festival along Kiraly Utca

Today Benjamin and I were on our way to one of our favorite parks along Kiraly Utca when we happened upon a street festival and decided to stay.

There was music, dancing, traditional food and even a play area for small children! Benjamin enjoyed the play area which was filled with wooden toys and even a rocking horse. We enjoyed watching all the vendors making their foods, some using giant wood burning stoves, and also watched a man and his son working on creating a large wooden bowl from a log, they were whittling it down with curved axes.

The weather was gray and dreary which made the festival seem cozy and warm. There were so many different foods we could have tried and even mulled wine by the glass!
Benjamin and I eventually settled on some sweet dough which the vendor prepared by wrapping a long rope of dough around a metal pole which was then fried and rolled in a choice of toppings. We chose vanilla (actually it was the only word I recognized) and then spent time unraveling the giant sweet tube to eat it. Fun and delicious!
